Funding Spotter is cheaper. Here is when to pay more.

Funding Spotter reads the same Companies House filings Priorfile reads, and its Pro plan is £100 a month for everything it detects. If you want to explore the UK funding market, buy it. If you want Monday’s calls for one desk, read on.

The honest summary

A database and a call sheet.

Where Funding Spotter is better

  • £100 a month for every detected round
  • Investor tracking and portfolio views
  • An officer and people network you can browse
  • Analytics, charts, a geographic map
  • A page for every company, and an API on the way
  • A free tier with ten rounds and a weekly digest

If you are a founder, an investor or an analyst, this is the better buy and it is not close.

Where Priorfile is better

  • Built for one job: a lending desk deciding who to call on Monday
  • Your sector only, in an email, no login to forget
  • Director names on every row as the call list
  • Every row says whether it was announced, and when
  • Shells with no website and listed companies removed
  • An error rate you can see: 30 of 30 rows hand-checked

If you run a desk, you are buying the two hours a week of filtering and checking, not the database.

Funding Spotter and Beauhurst figures from their published pricing, read 1 September 2026. Beauhurst is a far larger product and reads the same public source. If you want to research the whole market, buy Beauhurst. This is built to tell one desk what moved on its own list last week.

Questions

Asked plainly.

Is Funding Spotter cheaper than Priorfile?

Yes. Funding Spotter Pro is £100 a month and includes every detected round, investor tracking, an officer network, analytics, a map and a page per company. Priorfile Solo is £1,500 for one seat and one sector. If breadth per pound is the test, Funding Spotter wins it.

Then why would anyone pay more for Priorfile?

Because the two products do different jobs. Funding Spotter is a database you log into and filter. Priorfile is the filtered result, for one sector, with director names and an announcement check on every row, in an email on Monday. A desk that would otherwise spend two hours a week doing that filtering is buying the two hours.

Do both read the same filings?

Yes. Both read Companies House filings directly, as Beauhurst does. Priorfile does not claim a data advantage over Funding Spotter. It claims a format, a buyer, and a published error rate.

Does Funding Spotter say whether a round was announced?

Not on the pages we could read on 1 September 2026. Its rounds are labelled by detection confidence. Priorfile searches press, news and company channels for every row and prints the result with a date. If that changes, this page will say so.

Should I just use Funding Spotter's free tier?

If you want ten rounds a week and a digest across every sector, yes, and you should. Priorfile's free tier is one unannounced company a week in your sector, by email.
